This contract role offers the unique opportunity to work across two collaborative school environments in a welcoming educational community near Des Plaines, IL. The position is split between two nearby middle school campuses, each just five minutes apart, both offering strong staff support and an engaging student population.
As the LBSI Middle School Special Education Teacher, you’ll divide your day between co-taught and resource classes for 8th grade students, with resource groups averaging 8-10 students. You’ll focus on fostering academic growth, supporting students in small group settings, and collaborating closely with general education teachers and fellow special educators.
Qualifications and Ideal Experience:
- Valid Illinois teaching license with Special Education (LBSI) endorsement
- Solid background in delivering resource support and differentiated instruction at the middle school level
- Experience in both co-teaching and managing small group resource classes
- Ability to operate independently, demonstrating strong organization and communication skills
- Passion for supporting the growth and development of diverse learners
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction in co-taught and resource settings
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with teaching teams to adapt curriculum and interventions for student needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student success
Position Details:
- Contract duration: August 17, 2026 – May 28, 2027
- Opportunity to participate in new teacher orientation (August 5-11, if onboarded on time)
- Staff schedule: 7:20am–2:50pm (M, T, Th, F), 7:20am–3:05pm (W)
- 35 hours per week, plus a daily 30-minute lunch
- Split placement between two middle schools (easy five-minute drive apart)
