A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to support elementary students within a school district in the Virginia Beach area. This role involves providing one-on-one interpreting services to young learners, primarily at elementary school level, with flexibility to assist at various campuses as needed. The position runs through June 16, 2026, with a start date as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for elementary students.
- Support students across multiple school locations within the district as needed.
- Collaborate with educational staff to ensure clear communication access.
- Utilize preferred communication methods, including Visaphonics when applicable.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must possess Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification.
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.0 preferred; 3.5 or higher strongly preferred for consideration.
- Experience interpreting with elementary-aged students is highly desirable.
- Ability to work full-time, Monday through Friday with a 35-hour workweek.
- Availability for part-time, itinerant roles may also be considered.
- Previous school-based interpreting experience is a plus.
