This full-time role involves providing support as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) within a school-based setting near North Adams, MA. The primary caseload focuses on elementary students, with some possibility of working with middle and high schoolers depending on student needs and scheduling.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license, active and in good standing
- Prior school-based experience preferred, but new graduates passionate about working with children will be considered
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with OT supervisors, educators, and families
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to adapt to changing assignments, schedules, and student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct therapy sessions to support students’ IEP goals under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
- Assist with implementing therapeutic activities that enhance fine motor skills, sensory integration, and functional independence
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records according to school and regulatory requirements
- Support classroom staff in the use of adaptive equipment and strategies to foster student participation
- Contribute observations during team meetings and assist with data collection and assessments as requested
