Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to provide instructional and case management services for a middle school substantially separate classroom during a teacher leave of absence. The successful candidate will support a caseload of nine students with diverse learning and developmental needs, ensuring the implementation of individualized educational programming in a structured, supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment that supports student growth and independence.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavioral support plans as outlined in IEPs.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and other required school-based activities.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
• Manage classroom routines and supervise assigned support staff as needed.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field required.
• Appropriate teaching certification/licensure for the state of Massachusetts required.
• Experience working with middle school students in special education settings strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of IEP implementation, behavior management strategies, and differentiated instruction.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and school staff.
