Step into an engaging, full-time contract role providing occupational therapy support in an educational setting, working hands-on with students aged 3–21. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) within an assigned zone in the Houston area, you’ll support learners across 6–7 schools, all thoughtfully grouped by ZIP code to minimize commute times. You’ll join a dedicated team focusing on quality and accessibility of services, with a caseload designed for balance—consult services form a significant portion, and typically 30–40 students receive direct services on a rotating schedule.
Your day-to-day routine will include conducting assessments, attending ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings, collaborating closely with your supervising Occupational Therapist, and maintaining documentation through SHARES and Onward software systems, along with IEP tracking in Excel. The schedule aligns with school hours, usually 8–4 or occasionally 7:30–3:30.
Experience with school-based or heavy pediatric caseloads is essential, and a commitment to serving diverse student needs is at the heart of this position.
Requirements:
- Active Texas COTA license
- Prior experience in pediatric or school settings (minimum several years preferred)
- Availability for a full-time, on-site position (37.5 hours per week; no part-time option)
- Able to travel between assigned campuses within a defined local area
- Proficiency in documentation and case management software (Excel, SHARES, Onward)
- Willingness to complete fingerprinting/background checks per district policy
- Cannot be a former employee of the district
