Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A school in Fremont, CA is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support classroom instruction for a 3rd-grade class. This full-time contract position is critical for ensuring effective communication and accessibility during instructional time. The role is based on a standard 8-hour day and will commence as soon as possible, continuing through June 4, 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation during class instruction for 3rd-grade students
• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and classroom teachers or staff
• Ensure effective understanding of lessons by interpreting educational content in real time
• Collaborate with educators to support inclusive learning environments
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting experience in educational settings
• Familiarity with classroom vocabulary and 3rd-grade educational content
• Ability to interpret simultaneous and consecutive communication effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Relevant certification or credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred
