Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Certified Head Start Teacher to join our Early Childhood Classroom at Vernon E. Wightman Primary School. As part of our Head Start Program, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational foundation for young children, fostering a positive and engaging first school experience. This is a 10-month, school calendar-based position, offering the opportunity to work in a supportive team environment committed to helping children and families thrive. Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate pre-K curriculum in alignment with Head Start Performance Standards, New York State Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations, and New York State Education Department Learning Standards.
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic growth of preschool-aged children.
- Collaborate with classroom team members to provide comprehensive services to children and families.
- Support children in developing the skills necessary for kindergarten readiness.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by program standards and regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Qualifications
- New York State certification in Early Childhood Education or Special Education (Birth to Grade 2) or enrollment in a five-year plan to achieve certification.
- Associate degree in Early Childhood or a related field is acceptable for those working toward certification.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children is beneficial.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for travel within the service area.
- Successful completion of a background check is required.
Compensation
$19 - $24 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. This is a 10-month position following the school calendar.
