The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Cleveland provides a home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers while receiving treatment. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Maintenance Technician II to help ensure the facility remains safe, comfortable, clean, and fully operational for the guests we serve.
This is more than a maintenance role. Your work directly supports individuals and families during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing repair, installation, inspection, and preventative maintenance tasks throughout the facility and surrounding grounds. The technician will help maintain building systems, complete work orders, support guest room readiness, and ensure the property meets safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliances, fixtures, windows, and doors
- Complete maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain guest rooms, common areas, mechanical areas, and exterior grounds
- Assist with room preparation and turnover as needed
- Coordinate with approved vendors and contractors on maintenance projects
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment
- Document repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities
- Follow all facility safety procedures and standards
- Assist with emergency maintenance situations when necessary
Environment and Physical Requirements
This is a physically active position requiring the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, push, pull, and lift up to 80 pounds with assistance when necessary. Work may involve exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, dust, noise, and power equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum four years of commercial, hospitality, healthcare, or multi-family maintenance experience
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
- Intermediate computer skills including email and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Tools Required
Technician must provide their own standard hand tools, including but not limited to hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, drill, tape measure, multimeter, GFI tester, and other common maintenance tools.
