Press Brake Operator

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Press Brake Operator to set up, operate, and maintain our brake machines to bend, form, and manipulate metal per provided specifications. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of reading blueprints and working with sheet metal.

Bonus: While your primary role will be operating the press brake, candidates with welding experience will be given top priority!

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and safely operate press brake machinery to form sheet metal.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
• Select the correct tooling, adjust machine settings, and calculate bend allowances to achieve precise angles and dimensions.
• Inspect completed parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, protractors) to ensure they meet strict quality tolerances.
• Perform routine daily maintenance on machines and report any mechanical issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in accordance with shop safety protocols.
• If applicable: Assist with basic MIG/TIG welding or tacking operations as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience operating a press brake in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Strong understanding of metal properties and how different materials react to bending.
• Proficiency with basic shop math and precision measuring instruments.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications (The "Plus")

• Welding Experience: Previous experience with MIG and/or TIG welding is highly desired and a major plus for this role.
• Experience programming CNC press brakes.
