Position Summary:


The Welder will be responsible for cutting, joining, and shaping metal and other materials to produce high-quality structures or components according to project specifications. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of welding techniques, blueprints, and safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or specifications.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, or other types as needed.
  • Perform welding tasks, including laying out, cutting, fitting, and joining metal components.
  • Inspect and ensure the quality of welds for strength, durability, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase the size of metal objects.
  • Operate grinders, cutting torches, and other tools to prepare materials for welding.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Work closely with other team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in MIG, TIG, Arc, and other required welding processes.
  • Produces quality welds that consistently meet company and customer specifications.
  • Properly selects welding methods, materials, and equipment for each application.

Blueprint & Technical Drawing Interpretation

  • Accurately reads and interprets blueprints, work orders, drawings, and specifications.
  • Understands weld symbols, dimensions, and tolerances to fabricate parts correctly.

Quality Focus

  • Maintains high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Inspects completed welds for strength, appearance, and compliance with quality requirements.
  • Identifies defects and takes corrective action before parts move to the next operation.

Safety Awareness

  • Consistently follows OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Properly uses personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area while identifying and reporting hazards.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Safely operates welding machines, grinders, cutting torches, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance and reports equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.

Problem Solving

  • Identifies welding or fabrication issues and determines appropriate solutions.
  • Adjusts techniques and equipment settings to achieve optimal results while minimizing scrap and rework.

Productivity & Time Management

  • Completes work efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Prioritizes work to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Demonstrates dependability through consistent attendance and punctuality.

Teamwork

  • Works effectively with supervisors, engineers, and fellow production employees.
  • Shares knowledge, assists others when needed, and contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Communicates clearly regarding job progress, material needs, and production concerns.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new equipment, welding techniques, and manufacturing methods.

  • Maintains accurate documentation of work performed and materials used.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in using electrical and manual tools (grinders, cutting torches, etc.).
  • Skilled in MIG, TIG, and/or Arc welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to work in varying conditions (e.g., outdoors, confined spaces).
  • Certification in welding (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Lift up to 75 pounds, occasionally maneuver through lifting, pushing or pulling greater than 75 pounds. Regular reaching overhead and at or below shoulder level, with gross and fine manipulation with hands and fingers. Specific vision abilities include near, far, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Welder or similar role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification is a plus.
  • D1.1 certification preferred.
