Food Service/Support Staff-Classroom

Ensures the delivery of food services and support the implementation of daily activities in Head Start / Pre-K classroom in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, New York State Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations, and New York State Child and Adult Care Food Program, and all other applicable program regulations.

This is a part-time position working 20-29 hours per week.

Ideal skills

• Work with the food vendor to receive meals and ensure all meal components have been delivered or prepare meals for classrooms and snacks as needed.
• Deliver meals to classrooms.
• Assure accurate, legible daily and monthly nutrition report forms are completed. Maintain good sanitation and safety practices. Practice universal precautions.
• Provide classroom coverage during staff breaks as needed.
• Assist education staff in the implementation of classroom activities as requested.
• Assist classroom team in building strong family relationships.
• Maintain food inventory and meal service-related paper and cleaning inventory.
• Place food orders and meal service-related paper/cleaning products order with Main Office Staff.
• Pick up food orders and purchase food to meet menu requirements when needed.

High school diploma or equivalent.

The ideal candidate must have a driver’s license, meeting agency standards and consistent, reliable transportation that will allow regular travel in and around the service area.
