Duties
- Develop, formulate, and optimize cosmetic products using advanced knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry principles.
- Perform quality control tests to ensure formulations meet specifications, including microbiology testing, microscopy analysis, and stability assessments.
- Maintain compliance with FDA regulations, CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), and other relevant industry standards throughout the product development process.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment regularly, to guarantee accurate results.
- Use laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for data recording, sample tracking, and report generation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product development projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven laboratory experience in cosmetic or related industries with a strong background in analytical chemistry techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography (gas chromatography and HPLC), microbiology, and microscopy.
- Familiarity with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), CGMP regulations, and FDA guidelines for cosmetic products.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance of analytical instruments like spectrophotometers and chromatography systems.
- Knowledge of microbiological testing methods and biochemistry fundamentals relevant to cosmetic formulation.
- Strong organizational skills with experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
