What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Assistant For Teenager With Down Syndrome position at Private Household?
Looking for reliable, responsible, trustworthy personal care support and companionship for our 16 year-old daughter with Down syndome. Hours would primarily be Saturdays and Sundays. She enjoys swimming (seasonally, oversight only as she's a strong swimmer), taking neighborhood walks, iPad, music, helping to do life skill tasks that she is successful at (setting/clearing tables, laudry, meal prep). She needs personal care support using the bathroom, showering, brushing teeth (oversight only, reminding). She is healthy, no allergies, will need medications administered in pill form). We would like someone willing to drive our van and take her on tasks in community (Gigi's Playhouse, grocery store, target, local markets). She is initiating non-verbal, but does answer questions when given choices and sometimes sporadically asks for things. She also repeats everything you say (language is developing in spurts). She loves to wear purple and wear crocs, loves her dog (mini-golden doodle) and has times where she is a typical teenager and wants to relax. She is family oriented and loves going to church on Sundays. She does best with routine, and goes to bed everynight at 7pm upon request.
An example of weekend hours would be Satudays from 8am-8pm. Sundays might be 1pm-8pm. But, the hours will change according to our other children's schedules and work commitments. Anywhere from 10-24 hours per weekend.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
