A valued client of ours is a leading manufacturer of commercial custom cabinetry and architectural millwork serving the Chicago market. We are seeking an experienced Architectural Millwork Project Manager with hands-on knowledge of millwork projects, architectural drawings, and CAD to manage commercial projects from contract award through final installation and closeout.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with 3 years of architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, or custom millwork experience who understands how projects move from drawings and approvals through purchasing, production, jobsite installation, and completion.
This is a direct-hire position with our client, and we are looking to hire ASAP.
Responsibilities
- Manage architectural millwork projects from contract award through installation and closeout
- Coordinate all phases of commercial millwork projects, including drafting, submittals, purchasing, production, delivery, and installation
- Serve as the primary point of contact for General Contractors throughout the project lifecycle
- Review and interpret architectural drawings, CAD drawings, millwork shop drawings, plans, and specifications
- Coordinate project schedules with purchasing, production, and installation teams to keep projects on schedule
- Work closely with drafting/CAD teams to ensure shop drawings accurately reflect project requirements and field conditions
- Track project schedules, budgets, materials, production status, and deliverables
- Manage RFIs, submittals, approvals, revisions, and change orders
- Coordinate with General Contractors, architects, vendors, internal production teams, and field installers
- Identify potential scheduling, material, production, or installation issues and resolve them before they impact project delivery
- Use Innergy ERP to track project data, work orders, materials, and production progress
- Travel to commercial job sites as needed for field coordination, progress reviews, measurements, and installation support
- Ensure projects move efficiently from CAD/drafting through manufacturing, purchasing, delivery, and installation
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, custom cabinetry, or a closely related millwork environment strongly preferred
- Previous experience managing or coordinating commercial architectural millwork projects
- CAD experience required
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, CAD drawings, millwork shop drawings, elevations, details, and specifications
- Understanding of the complete millwork project lifecycle from contract award and shop drawings through production and field installation
- Experience coordinating project schedules, purchasing/materials, production, and installation teams
- Experience working directly with General Contractors, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and field installers
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- ERP experience required or strongly preferred; Innergy ERP experience is a plus
- Proficiency with Outlook and standard office software
- Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel to local job sites as needed
- Must be able to successfully complete a drug screening and criminal background check
