Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Underwriting professional to join our Complex Account Practice (CAP) team. CAP is dedicated to underwriting the most sophisticated and high-exposure accounts within the PCS portfolio, with total property limits exceeding $100,000,000. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of the portfolio with high marketplace visibility and national reach — ideal for underwriting professionals who excel in high-stakes environments and are energized by complex, high-impact underwriting challenges.
This highly experienced Underwriter will serve as the primary point of contact for a dedicated book of business spanning new and renewal accounts within the unit. In this strategically important role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and broker partners to deliver exceptional underwriting outcomes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Market and underwrite a book of large and complex personal lines risks for partner brokers.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Meet renewal retention goals through strong negotiation and communication skills, including
- occasional in-person meetings with brokers, clients, and centers of influence.
- Identify new business and cross-sell opportunities by cultivating relationships with producers
- and account managers.
- Document underwriting files in accordance with authority statements and guidelines.
- Participate in annual audits for specific product lines.
- Utilize advanced underwriting and producer management tools to meet profitability targets.
- Make independent sales calls to grow and support your book of business.
- Recommend updates to underwriting guidelines and workflows.
- Contribute to marketing and underwriting projects that enhance company performance.
- Occasional travel as necessary for business needs.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Personal Lines Property & Casualty Insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Familiarity with underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a personal book of business.
- Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and self-motivation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Property and Casualty (P&C) and Excess and Surplus (E&S) lines licenses are required. Licenses
- are expected to be obtained promptly; PCS will provide support as needed.
Location preference: Midwest or West regions; open to qualified candidates in other areas
