Seasonal Line Chef


The Line Chef plays a critical role in the culinary operations of a professional kitchen, responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to the highest standards of quality and presentation. This position requires the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining consistency and attention to detail in every dish served. The Line Chef collaborates closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow and timely delivery of meals. They are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of their workstation, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Ultimately, the Line Chef contributes to creating an exceptional dining experience that meets the expectations of guests and supports the reputation of the establishment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Line Chef or similar role in a professional kitchen.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working in a fine dining or high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Familiarity with various cooking techniques and international cuisines.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • First Aid and ServSafe certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Manage and organize the line station to ensure efficient workflow during service hours.
  • Monitor food quality and portion control to maintain consistency and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to coordinate timing and delivery of dishes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the workstation in compliance with health regulations.
  • Assist in inventory management by reporting stock levels and identifying supply needs.
  • Adapt to menu changes and special dietary requests with flexibility and professionalism.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Line Chef to efficiently prepare and cook dishes while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for coordinating with other kitchen staff and ensuring smooth service. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation is applied daily to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Preferred skills such as culinary techniques and inventory management enhance the chef's ability to contribute creatively and operationally to the kitchen. Together, these skills support the Line Chef in delivering consistent, high-quality meals that satisfy customer expectations and uphold the establishment's reputation.

Benefits:

- Seasonal roles lasting six months or less are not eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, or retirement plans.

- Overtime pay may apply for hours worked over 40 per week, per federal law.

- All other benefits are limited to those required by federal law.
