Position Summary
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer with strong experience in low- and medium-voltage power distribution within a switchgear OEM or equipment manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and data center power systems, plus working knowledge of UL508A control panel design.
Primary Responsibilities
Power Distribution (Main Focus)
- Design and support manufacturing for:
- • LV/MV switchgear (UL891, UL1558)
- • Switchboards & panelboards (UL67)
- • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
- • Dry-type & liquid-filled transformers
- Create and review single-line, three-line, and interconnection drawings
- Perform electrical studies:
- Short circuit, arc flash (IEEE 1584), coordination, load flow/voltage drop
- Select breakers, evaluate trip units, and ensure SCCR & bus bracing
- Support submittals, factory testing, utilities, EPCs, and customer reviews
- Assist with FAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Design and review UL508A control panels
- Create schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts
- Perform SCCR calculations
- Integrate PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, relays, and monitoring systems
- Support UL compliance and wiring standards
Required Qualifications
- BSEE or related degree
- 5 years in power distribution engineering
- Experience with:
- • Switchgear & switchboard design
- • MCCs
- • Transformers
- • Data center power systems
- Strong understanding of:
- NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, IEEE 242, UL891, UL1558, UL67, UL508A
- Proficient with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, AutoCAD Electrical, etc.
Preferred
- Experience in a switchgear OEM
- UL508A MTR certification
- PE or EIT a plus
- Experience with Tier III / Tier IV data centers
- Knowledge of UL98, UL1066, and relay integration
Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of short circuit ratings, bus bracing, coordination
- Solid grasp of equipment rating relationships.
- Knowledge of grounding, bonding, fault-current paths.
- Ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and field service.
- Detail‐oriented with a compliance‐focused mindset
