Under direct supervision, responsible for the coordination of procedures and surgical services that includes but not limited to coordinating with physicians, reserving operating rooms, scheduling anesthesia, and surgical assistants, providing pre-operative instructions and testing information to patients, obtaining test results, obtaining insurance authorization, and communicating surgical details to patients. Follows standard procedures and pre-established guidelines to complete tasks. May help orient and train co-workers. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology’s Shared Values. May help orient, train, and assign work of new employees.
Patrange : $19 - $29.76/hr.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, implements, coordinates, evaluates and promotes the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices, including the verification of allergies and medications as it pertains to the surgery Coordinates tasks associated with case scheduling to include completion of all required pre-surgery/procedure tasks, based on type of case: Coordinates and reviews pre-operative appointments with/for the patient, including clearance tests, procedures, and other diagnostic imaging tests as needed Notifies any needed representatives of surgery case (e.g., Vendors, First Assists, etc.)
Completes and sends H&P, surgical order, and any required documentation to physician for review/signature Completes & sends all required scheduling documentation and special equipment/supply needs to surgical facility, including but not limited to authorization/pending authorization information, consent forms, or clearances May manage “Global Period” alerts in EMR and/or Practice Management System for applicable surgeries Ensures all pertinent documents are scanned into EMR, including signed surgery orders, consents, clearances, authorizations, pathology reports, OP Notes Confirms surgery scheduled date with the patient, facility, anesthesia, and any other vendors Ensures timely and effective acquisition of necessary authorizations and pre-certifications with appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for all scheduled procedures and surgeries, while acting as a patient advocate and liaison between the patient, payor, office, and facility to address inquiries and escalate issues Ensures any additional appointments are scheduled, either self or via Physician clinic scheduler, such as in-office procedures, post operative, and follow up appointments Releases any OR blocks with surgical facilities in accordance with stated policy If directed by clinic leadership, administer and process financial and patient care commitments (with any additional staff as appropriate) Notify appropriate personnel of a subject procedure for any type of prepayment/collection performed Provide any needed contact information for financial questions/concerns
