What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Diesel Technician position at Priority Staffing?
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join a clients team located in Rockdale, IL. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent problem-solving skills who can work independently as well as part of a team.
Training & Experience:
Experienced Diesel Technicians should possess the following training and experience:
- Minimum of six (6) years practical experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Specialized training and or experience in the overhaul of major components (i.e., Mack-Cummings-Detroit-Diesel Engines, etc.)
Experience needed:
Properly diagnose, overhaul, adjust and repair all series of truck and trailer equipment including but not limited to the following:
- Engines (Gas & Diesel) - Diagnose, remove and rebuild and reinstallation as necessary.
- Transmissions (Manual & Automatic) - Diagnose, remove rebuild and reinstallation as necessary.
- Differential Power / Dividers - Diagnose, remove, rebuild and reinstallation as necessary.
- Starters & Alternators - Diagnose, remove, repair and replace as center.
- Air Conditioning Systems - Trained / Certified, diagnose electrical and mechanical defects, repair, component replacement, evaluation and charging.
- Fan Clutches - Diagnose, remove, rebuild and reinstallation as necessary.
- Power Steering Systems - Diagnose, adjust and repair as necessary.
- Electrical Brake / Cooling Systems - Diagnose, remove, rebuild, reinstallation and adjustment as necessary.
- Clutches - Diagnose, remove and reinstallation as necessary.
- PTO Systems - Installation of PTO System and related hydraulic components. Diagnose, remove rebuild and reinstallation and adjustment as necessary.
- Tires - Remove, install and algin chassis.
- Engine Electronics (Gas & Diesel) - Adjust and repair as necessary.
Duties
Must be about to perform these duties with no assistance:
- Preform all levels of preventative maintenance
- Identify and determine parts require for repair and disassembled units.
- Identify warrantable repairs and document appropriately
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
- Road test vehicles as necessary
- Performance and prospective duties in a timely and efficient manner.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to at least 50lbs
- Ability to provide the above major functions, specific duties and with the experience listed above
- Good Driving Record
- Ability to drive automatic transmissions and use of PTO
- Superb communication skills (verbal & written)
- Computer skills
- Team player
- Ability to multi-task
Working conditions:
- Working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Exposure to used cooking oil odors.
Weekly pay: $29-$33 per hour based on experience.
