Princeton Radiology Associates is a physician group practice providing diagnostic imaging services at 11 imaging centers and two hospitals throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Princeton Radiology Associates is currently seeking a full-time Billing Representative to work in our business office located in Princeton, New Jersey.
The Billing Representative works under the direction of the Director of Revenue Cycle. This position has a strong emphasis on customer service to our patients, physicians, internal/external contacts, revenue cycle management firm and joint venture partners. The Billing Representative handles incoming phone calls, emails, and correspondence from our patients, offices, hospitals, referring physician offices in what can be a fast-paced environment. In addition, the Billing Specialist processes refunds, and assists with various projects as assigned by the Director.
Responsibilities:
· Drive patient satisfaction through pro-active communication and commitment to resolving patient issues/problems related to billing, benefits and unpaid claims with the highest level of efficiency & accuracy.
· Establish and maintains effective communication relationships with patients, managers, physicians, colleagues and revenue cycle management firm staff.
· Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with patients, clinicians, staff, other departments, and internal and external customers with a high level of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.
· Perform and/or provide support reviewing patient refund check register for accuracy, provide feedback to Director regarding errors noted.
· Process refunds through electronic data exchange for time of service payments.
· Monitors, analyzes and communicates account receivable challenges and opportunities to the manager.
· Identifies problems in process flow or in changes in payers’ billing rules & regulations and governmental guidelines that slows cash flow, workflow and informs Director of Revenue Cycle.
· Prepare accounts to be sent to collection agencies; remove collection alerts from radiology information system as open balances are resolved, respond to collection agencies requests for information & updates on patient accounts; provide bankruptcy notices to billing vendor and collection agencies.
· Liaise and be responsive to inquiries from outsourced billing vendor & collection agencies.
· Submit patient issues to billing vendor via ticketing system and following-up regularly to insure issues are resolved timely.
· Keeps current with industry knowledge, including but not limited to healthcare payers, changing requirements (authorizations, billing & reimbursement); sources and attends training sessions/webinars as needed to stay up to date.
· Responsible for evaluating and processing correspondence, insuring all information is sent with adherence to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
· Assist with additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
· HS Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
· Minimum of two years of relevant medical billing experience required, radiology experience a plus.
· Comprehensive understanding of billing process with proficiency in interpreting and analyzing data.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel required.
· Proficiency working with billing systems required.
· Proficient in ICD-10, CPT & HCPCS coding, certified coder preferred (CPC or CCS).
· Proven knowledge of Medicare and commercial carrier regulations & billing requirements.
· In-depth knowledge of Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) billing & collection policies preferred.
· Ability to multitask, work equally well as part of a team or independently.
· Adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to speak effectively and present a pleasant, professional demeanor/image during telephone conversations or in person.
· Adherence to follow established procedures and make sound decisions based on those procedures.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information according to policy.
· Knowledge, understanding and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations relating to job duties, as well as company policies and procedures.
· Ability to learn quickly, and toggle to and from various websites and billing/registration platforms.
