What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Program Technician position at Prince William County Government?
Prince William County Department of Housing and Community Development is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Housing Program Technician/Housing inspector to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all assisted units through the Housing Choice Voucher program comply with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Housing Quality Standards (HQS), the newly HUD implemented National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) standards and other relevant regulations.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for public service, provide excellent communication skills, and have the ability to effectively engage with landlords, and tenants, while representing the Office of Housing.
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or G.E.D
Preferences:
- 4 or more years of related experience conducting HQS, NSPIRE, UPCS or other housing inspections.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting housing program regulations, lease requirements, or HUD standards to determine compliance
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating housing inspection results to landlords, tenants, and contractors
- Ability to identify building code, life-safety, and habitability deficiencies
- Demonstrated experience documenting deficiencies with digital photos and inspection software
- Knowledge of basic construction, electrical plumbing, HVAC and structural systems
- Housing Inspector Certification
Special Requirements:
- NSPIRE STAR V3.0 Certification required within 6 months of employment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and pass DMV record check.
- Ability to frequently walk and climb multiple flights of stairs throughout the workday.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 37.5 hrs./ week; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This position may be eligible for one (1) day of telework.Starting Hourly Range: $21.14- $32.96
