About This Position
This is entry-level professional programmer/systems analyst work. Incumbents are responsible for design, development and implementation of automated systems, and the formulation/integration/formatting of software packages and related hardware to satisfy user needs. Work is performed under the close supervision of a higher-level Programmer/Systems Analyst or other designated supervisor and evaluated in terms of technical adequacy and accuracy. Upon the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, entry-level incumbents may be non-competitively promoted to the II full performance level after successfully completing the probationary period.

Examples of Work
- Assists personnel with various computer software trouble-shooting requests.
- Grants system access to new users who have completed basic Records Management System (RMS) training.
- Drafts, publishes and manages automated subscriptions for reports as needed for PGPD Command Staff, special units, and other entities.
- Conducts audits of Motorola PremierOne usage by end users.
- Identifies, examines and experiments with computer hardware, Motorola PremierOne software and mobile devices.
- Compiles Motorola PremierOne software research, documents all findings and briefs the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the unit.
- Prepares Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) analysis, preparation, and auditing.
- Maintains the PGPD PremierOne RDW using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Works in partnership with internal and external customers to install all PremierOne software and finding resolutions to immediate problems.
- Manages the Police_RMS email account.
- Teaches UCR, technological and RMS related courses.
- Performs tasks and duties not specifically listed in the position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the class of work willingly and cooperatively .
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or business administration
- Six (6) months experience in data processing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) data queries.
- Extensive working knowledge of computer systems and software applications such as the Records Management System (RMS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and other data sources.
- Experience identifying, examining and experimenting with computer hardware, Motorola PremierOne software and mobile devices.
- Knowledge of the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR), specifically the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS).
- Strong verbal communication.
- Strong written communication.
