The Prince George's County Department of Family Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Coordinator/Case Manager (Community Developer 1G) position, grade G18 within its Children Youth & Families Division.

About The Position

The Coordinator/ Case Manager will organize, monitor, assist, and ensure that all delivered services by the Case Manager team meet the needs of the youth and families participating in the Children in Need of Support (CINS). This includes assisting Case Managers in monitoring, reviewing and assisting with implementing and executing service provisions based on the core components of the CINS program Scope of Services. This position requires a combination of administrative/office duties, monitoring/case review, field/outreach work and a caseload of 10-15 clients.

About The Agency

The Department of Family Services improves the quality of life and overall well-being of the communities by providing information, assistance and referrals, as well as promoting and developing high quality, innovative programs that educate, empower, respect choice and preserve dignity. The department is responsible for providing assistance to some of the County’s most vulnerable citizens – children, families, victims of domestic violence, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans, and seniors. The department is comprised of three divisions that serve the aging and disabled, victims of domestic violence, as well as children, youth and families in need of support and resources.

Examples of Work

  • Maintain a caseload of 10-15 clients.
  • Provides case management services to children, youth, and their families referred to through the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) and other child-serving agencies.
  • Monitors and screens initial referrals, assign, and monitor Case Manager caseload.
  • Monitors, reviews, and assists Case Managers
  • Coordination of data collection, evaluation, and tracking activities of Case Manager.
  • Prepares monthly report for submission to DJS.
  • Prepares annual report.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with referring agencies staff and community organizations (i.e., school system, Pupil Personnel Workers, Inter-agency Council, etc.,)
  • Work with CYFD Administrative Assistant to prepare fiscal memos for program activities.
  • Coordinates program activities, contact vendors and other sources relevant to CINS programming.
  • Schedules and facilitates meetings geared towards meeting CINS objectives.
  • Participates in Request for Application Proposals process by researching and gathering data/information.
  • Participates in county-wide community outreach activities/events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Service, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Responsible work experience which includes coordination of group activities, preferably including work with disadvantaged individuals.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver's license.

An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience (reduce to 6 months only since bachelor's in 1 year)
  • Child welfare experience and knowledge.
