The Sr. Engineering Manager of Manufacturing is a senior technical and people leader responsible for overseeing multiple engineering managers, engineering teams, and/or several manufacturing value streams. This role serves as the operational and strategic bridge between day‑to‑day manufacturing engineering execution and the broader multi‑site engineering roadmap led by the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.

The Sr. Manager drives site-wide automation initiatives, process standardization, documentation governance, capacity expansion, and operational scalability across eBOS equipment, harness systems, and related electrical/mechanical assemblies. The role ensures that the organization meets performance expectations for throughput, labor efficiency, safety, quality, delivery, and cost—while enabling rapid NPI industrialization and continuous improvement.

Company Overview:

Premier PV is a leading manufacturer of solar electrical balance of systems solutions and renewable energy products, dedicated to advancing sustainable energy technologies. Our mission is to provide innovative, efficient, and reliable products that enhance solar energy systems.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Translate the Director of Manufacturing Engineering’s long‑term roadmap into actionable, site‑level engineering strategies for automation, layout optimization, standard work, and technology upgrades.
  • Lead multi‑value‑stream initiatives to scale operations in alignment with forecasted demand, product mix, and domestic‑content growth plans.
  • Ensure engineering managers and teams deliver against KPIs for labor efficiency, throughput, scrap, rework, OTD, and cost per unit.

Process Standardization & Governance

  • Standardize manufacturing processes, documentation, and change‑control practices across lines, shifts, and product families; ensure consistency with enterprise standards established by the Director.
  • Govern PFMEAs, control plans, validation protocols, and associated documentation of quality across all assigned areas.

Automation, Technology, & Capacity Expansion

  • Sponsor and lead major automation and capital programs, including ROI analysis, risk mitigation, vendor management, and FAT/SAT acceptance.
  • Drive layout optimization, equipment strategy alignment, and technology deployment for scalable high‑volume harness, enclosure, and eBOS assembly processes.
  • Enable MES, traceability, and data‑analytics enhancements that feed predictive quality and productivity systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & NPI Execution

  • Lead site‑level readiness for new product introduction (NPI) in partnership with Product Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality, ensuring seamless transition from prototype to full‑rate production.
  • Ensure robust handoff of DFM/DFA feedback, pilot‑build learnings, and industrialization tools (PFMEA, validation plans, work instructions).

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all processes meet applicable regulatory and manufacturing standards (UL, UL508A, NEC/IEC). Maintain rigorous testing, traceability, and documentation controls consistent with Director‑level expectations.

Additional Job Functions

  • Develop leadership bench strength: coach engineering managers, build succession plans, and drive talent mobility across value streams.
  • Partner with Maintenance & Facilities to drive reliability engineering, equipment lifecycle planning, and infrastructure upgrades that support growth.
  • Represent Manufacturing Engineering in cross‑site governance forums, contributing insights and escalations to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.

  • S. in Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12–15 years of manufacturing experience with at least 5 years leading engineering managers or multi‑area engineering portfolios.

  • Strong financial, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities; proven track record delivering margin improvement and capacity expansion.
  • Ability to influence cross‑functional leaders at all levels and across multiple sites; strong executive communication skills.
