Job Summary:
The Director of Procurement is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of all procurement and supply chain functions to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of materials, equipment, and services for large-scale construction and energy projects. This role leads the overall procurement strategy, supplier relationship management, and contract execution to support project delivery and corporate objectives. The Director of Procurement partners closely with executive leadership, project management, engineering, and field operations to optimize the company’s sourcing processes, strengthen supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement across the procurement lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement enterprise-wide procurement strategies that align with organizational goals, project priorities, and financial performance targets.
- Vendor Selection & Qualification: Oversee vendor prequalification, selection, and performance management to ensure a reliable and competitive supply base.
- Sourcing & Negotiation: Direct sourcing initiatives, RFQs, and bid evaluations. Negotiate high-value contracts and master service agreements to secure favorable commercial terms and mitigate risk.
- Contract Governance: Ensure procurement and contract administration are executed in compliance with corporate policies, legal standards, and client requirements.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control procurement expenditures. Establish KPIs and dashboards to track cost savings, spend analytics, and supply chain performance.
- Collaboration & Integration: Partner with project teams to forecast procurement needs, align purchasing strategies with construction schedules, and proactively resolve issues impacting cost or delivery.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks including schedule delays, market fluctuations, and vendor performance challenges.
- Technology & Systems: Champion the effective use of ERP systems (e.g., Vista/Viewpoint, pVault) and digital tools to enhance procurement transparency, reporting, and decision-making.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop procurement professionals to build a high-performing, collaborative team capable of supporting multiple business units and complex projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive process standardization and efficiency across the procurement organization through data-driven insights and best practice implementation.
- Supply Chain: Responsibilities will include oversight of Procurement and Subcontract disciplines, and critical interfaces with Materials Management and Accounting.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 12–15 years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role supporting large-scale industrial or energy construction projects.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction procurement practices, supplier markets, and industry compliance standards.
- Strategic & Operational Expertise: Proven ability to translate organizational goals into actionable procurement strategies that improve efficiency and control costs.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; ability to influence across functions and levels.
- Analytical Skills: Strong business acumen and analytical mindset to evaluate data, anticipate risks, and make informed strategic decisions.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (preferably Vista/Viewpoint and pVault).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certifications (Preferred): CPSM, CPIM, or PMP certification a plus.
