Internship Hours Per Week: up to 35 hours per week (5 days per week)

Hourly Rate: Sliding Scale based on Education Level ($18-$23 Per Hour)

Program: Water Resource Management – Division of Water Supply & Geoscience - Bureau of Safe Drinking Water

Program Description: The WRM Program establishes water quality and drinking water standards, monitors the waters of the State to ensure surface and groundwater standards are met, helps ensure delivery of water that meets drinking water standards, regulates discharges of wastewater and storm water to surface and ground water, regulates and manages the diversion of water from surface and groundwaters to ensure protection of the resource, and provides low cost financial assistance for finance capital improvements to water infrastructure. The Program works to ensure adequate, reliable, sustainable supplies for current and future needs uses and the environment.

Project Description: The candidate will assist in various drinking water compliance projects with a focus on acute regulations including Revised Total Coliform Rule, Lead and Copper, and Nitrate. The candidate will also participate in the review of analytical data, sampling plans, chains of custody, and water system inventories, as well as develop internal and external guidance.

Specific to the Position: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Outlook/Word. Ability/desire to learn new systems and processes.

Preferred Area of Study: Seeking individuals enrolled at an accredited university/college studying one of the Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences/Studies, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or in Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, or Physical Geography; or in Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Bio-resource Engineering.

License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
