License / Certification Requirements
- ARRT Certification – Required
- BLS/ CPR
Experience Needed
Minimum 2 years of recent Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist experience
Special Skills Needed
- Proficiency with fluoroscopic & general diagnostic imaging
- Ability to operate portable radiography, fluoroscopy, and OR imaging equipment
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of contrast media preparation & administration
- Ability to use CPRS, VistA, PACS, and exam documentation systems
- Ability to work independently and prioritize patients
- Strong infection control & radiation safety knowledge
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently

Responsibilities
(Directly from PWS Sections 4.3.6 & related duties)
- Perform fluoroscopic and general diagnostic exams
- Conduct portable radiography, portable fluoroscopy, OR imaging, and inpatient exams
- Prepare contrast materials safely for procedures (UGI, BE, Small Bowel, Venograms, Arthrograms, etc.)
- Maintain continuous awareness of patient condition & respond to adverse reactions
- Record radiation doses in VistA and generate dose summary reports
- Interpret and verify radiology orders for accuracy before performing exams
- Complete imaging studies within established timeframes (stat, urgent, routine)
- Ensure high-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure
Document repeat/reject analysis and maintain <5% repeat rate- Coordinate exams requiring radiologist input and optimize room utilization - Maintain PACS documentation, exam registration, editing, and scanning
Properly identify patients using 2 identifiers
MiscellaneousMust pass VA background investigation and security requirements
- Must comply with all VA policies, standards, and Privacy/HIPAA regulations
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized worker per federal rules
