Job Title: Dental Hygienist

Specialty: Dental Hygiene / Preventive & Therapeutic Dental Care

Site: Taos-Picuris Health Center

Location: 1090 Goat Springs Road, Taos, NM 87571

Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8-hour shifts, excluding federal holidays)

How many shifts needed per month: ~20 shifts/month (40 hrs/week)

Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6–8 weeks (includes background check, e-QIP, IHS clearance)

License: Any active, unrestricted Dental Hygienist license from a U.S. state or territory

Certifications

• BLS (required)
• ACLS (acceptable alternative)
• Radiography (X-ray) certification
  
  

Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene

Experience needed: Minimum 3 years of dental hygiene experience (adult & pediatric)

Special Skills Needed

• Dental prophylaxis, scaling & root planing
• Radiographic imaging
• Dentrix (or similar EHR) documentation
• Local anesthesia administration
• Preventive dental care & patient education
  
  

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and therapeutic dental procedures including cleaning, scaling, root planing, and oral assessments
• Conduct oral cancer screenings and take dental radiographs
• Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and antimicrobial agents
• Document all patient care in Dentrix and maintain accurate records
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
• Maintain infection control, sterilization, and equipment readiness
• Support dental team in emergencies and administrative tasks
