Lead Blood Bank/ CLS III

Overview

We are seeking a Blood Bank Lead (CLS III), internally referred to as a Blood Bank Lead/Clinical Lab Lead. The Blood Bank Lead will oversee the blood bank or transfusion service, ensuring the safe and efficient management of blood products and services.

Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Lead and manage the blood bank staff, including medical technologists, technicians, and support staff which will involve scheduling, training, and evaluating performance
• Oversee the storage of blood and blood products, ensure that all procedures comply with regulatory standards and hospital protocols
• Implement and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure the safety and accuracy of blood products and transfusions
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards set by agencies such as the FDA, AABB, and other accrediting bodies
• Manage the inventory of blood products and supplies, including ordering, storing, and tracking, confirm that adequate stock levels are maintained to meet patient needs
• Confirm that blood transfusions are performed safely and effectively, and manage any adverse reactions or complications

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

1. ASCP certification, or equivalent. Certified CLS/Med Tech2. Minimum five years of hospital laboratory work experience required.3. Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1461).4. Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

5. Minimum of five years of hospital lab supervisor experience preferred.

6. Blood Bank experience preferred.
