Position Overview
Tax Manager – Overland Park, will serve as the founding tax professional at Prime Capital Tax Advisory’s first regional office outside of Fort Worth. This individual will be primarily responsible for managing tax relationships with clients in the Kansas City metro and surrounding region, serving as a trusted resource to the local Prime Capital Financial Advisory team, and working collaboratively with tax headquarters in Fort Worth to develop and grow a full-service tax presence in the Overland Park market. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to step into a leadership role at the ground level of an expanding practice backed by one of the nation’s leading RIAs, with a defined path toward equity participation in the broader Prime Capital Financial business. The Tax Manager will report directly to the Tax Advisory Managing Partner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and service an assigned book of tax clients in the Kansas City and Overland Park region, including oversight of individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, and estate tax compliance and planning engagements.
- Serve as the on-site tax resource for the Overland Park Prime Capital Financial Advisory team — participating in client meetings, responding to advisor inquiries, and supporting integrated planning conversations between the tax and wealth management disciplines.
- Develop new client relationships in the local market, leveraging the existing Advisor network and Prime Capital’s referral infrastructure to grow the regional tax practice.
- Partner with the Tax Managing Partner and Fort Worth headquarters team on tax planning strategy, process development, and quality control, ensuring consistent delivery of Prime Capital Tax Advisory’s standards across the Overland Park office
- Establish the organizational groundwork for a future Overland Park tax team, including contributing to hiring decisions, onboarding, and mentorship as the local practice grows. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Tax Manager will assist with firm-wide tax research, special projects, and client deliverables as directed by the Tax Managing Partner.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 4–6 years of tax experience at a larger or mid-size public accounting firm, with demonstrated proficiency in individual and business entity tax compliance and planning.
- Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of tax areas, including federal and state income taxation for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates.
- CPA license required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships independently, with a high degree of responsiveness, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters in clear, accessible terms to non-technical clients and advisors.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and genuine interest in building a practice from the ground up within a structured, well-resourced organization.
- Collaborative orientation and ability to work effectively across functions, including with financial advisors, wealth managers, and corporate operations.
