The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Cincinnati office.
This role is ideal for an early-career engineering professional who is eager to gain hands-on experience in transportation and infrastructure construction projects. You will work alongside experienced construction engineers, project managers, inspectors, contractors, and clients to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with plans and specifications.
This position offers a balanced mix of office and field experience, providing valuable exposure to construction administration, project coordination, contract compliance, quality assurance, and construction observation.
What You’ll Do:
As a Construction Engineer I, you will support construction management and inspection teams throughout the project lifecycle. You will assist with reviewing construction activities, monitoring project progress, coordinating communication between project stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with contract documents and applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Construction Administration & Project Support
- Assist with monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and applicable regulations.
- Support project managers and senior construction engineers with project documentation and coordination.
- Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action item summaries.
- Review contractor submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and change order documentation.
- Assist with tracking project schedules, budgets, and construction progress.
- Conduct field visits and construction observations to document work progress and identify potential issues.
- Assist with reviewing materials testing reports and quality control documentation.
- Verify quantities and support project documentation related to pay estimates and contractor invoices.
- Observe construction activities to help ensure compliance with safety requirements and project specifications.
- Serve as a supporting liaison between clients, contractors, utility companies, and design teams.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including roadway, bridge, traffic, environmental, utility, geotechnical, and landscape architecture professionals.
- Assist with preparing project status reports and communicating project updates to stakeholders.
- Develop an understanding of construction contracts, specifications, and project delivery processes.
- Build knowledge of construction management best practices, scheduling methods, and quality assurance procedures.
- Pursue professional development opportunities, certifications, and licensure goals.
- Support project closeout activities and documentation.
- Assist with maintaining project records and correspondence.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of construction engineering, construction inspection, transportation, or infrastructure-related experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
- Internship or co-op experience in construction management, transportation engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Basic understanding of CPM scheduling, construction administration, and quality assurance practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
