Primary Talent Partners has a 12 month contract opening for either an Estimator II or Estimator III to join a national energy & utilities company for a hybrid position operating out of either Plainfield, IN or Cincinnati OH.
Pay for Estimator II: $40.00/hr - $49.00/hr (based on experience & academia)
Pay for Estimator III: $50.00/hr - $59.00/hr (based on experience & academia)
Contract: 12 months, extensions likely, conversion possible
Type: W-2, cannot support C2C or provide visa sponsorship; no PTO or benefits; ACA compliant medical package available for enrollment
Hybrid: Onsite 50% in either Plainfield, IN or Cincinnati, OH.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare estimates for use in planning, organizing and scheduling work.
- Analyze drawings and other documents to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
- Conduct periodic site visits to confirm work methods and work approaches are consistent with the estimate.
- Assess project cost performance by tracking actuals against contractor bids or the project estimate.
- Communicate with engineering, construction or sub-contractors on proposed changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Prepare cost reports and projections as requested by management.
- Establish cost monitoring and reporting mechanism and procedures.
- Establish a mechanism to continuously update cost and man-hour databases.
- Communicating with supervisors, peers and subordinates to obtain and supply information.
- Communicating with persons outside the organization including sub-contractors, the public or regulators as directed by management.
- Securing information by observation, email, telephone, corporate databases and the Internet.
- Establishing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships.
- Estimating sizes, distances and quantities and determining time, costs, resources, equipment and materials required for specific work activities.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to identify the best solutions to problems. Organizing, planning and prioritizing assigned work.

- Prefer a BS in Engineering or Construction Management
- 8 years of relevant field experience.
- Demonstrated experience using Sage Estimating software for developing accurate and comprehensive construction cost estimates.
- Proficiency in creating, modifying, and maintaining estimating assemblies that incorporate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Experience managing and maintaining Sage estimating cost libraries and databases, including updating pricing, production rates, and company standards.
- Ability to develop standardized templates, assemblies, and workflows to improve estimating accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, cost analysis, budgeting, and bid preparation processes.
- Experience collaborating with preconstruction, project management, procurement, and operations teams to support project planning and execution.
