Primary Services is excited to announce the role of Gas Distribution Design Engineer for a large and well-established client in the energy and utilities sector. This role lets you apply your engineering expertise to critical gas distribution projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective system design and installation. The Gas Distribution Design Engineer will play a key role in both the design and execution phases, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders on essential infrastructure initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering design, calculations, cost estimates, and project coordination for gas distribution system installations.
- Analyze system load, pressure requirements, and future growth considerations during the design process.
- Oversee pipeline layout, sizing, and equipment specifications to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings and communicate design specifications to field personnel and contractors.
- Conduct system pressure analysis and cathodic protection studies.
- Coordinate with external agencies, utilities, and vendors to ensure alignment on project scope and timelines.
- Prepare economic justifications for proposed projects, including capital investment evaluations and budget reporting.
- Review completed work orders and project cost data to ensure accuracy and adherence to plans.
- Update unit cost estimates and support continuous improvement of pricing models.
- Assist in evaluating system performance and troubleshooting operational issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in utility design, gas distribution, or related project design.
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as MicroStation, Stoner, or ArcInfo.
- Experience with SAP modules or other ERP systems.
- Knowledge of DOT CFR 192 regulations and gas distribution standards.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations related to pressure, flow, and system capacity.
- Experience preparing project cost estimates and economic evaluations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
