Primary Services is excited to announce the role of CAD Designer for a client recognized as a major player in the utilities space, supporting large-scale architectural and civil development initiatives. The CAD Designer will contribute to preparing detailed technical drawings and designs for building structures, transportation systems, and public infrastructure projects. This role leverages strong drafting skills, mathematical understanding, and familiarity with engineering principles to produce precise, accurate design documentation in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers and design personnel to resolve layout, component, and system design issues.
- Analyze architectural and engineering concepts to determine structural implications, including weight, volume, and stress factors.
- Produce rough and detailed scale drawings for structures, foundations, and civil works based on sketches, calculations, and specifications.
- Prepare topographical, architectural, and structural drawings for infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, and utility systems.
- Visit job sites to gather measurements and verify field data for accurate design development.
- Determine material requirements, including cost, strength, and quantity calculations for project documentation.
- Coordinate multiple design disciplines, including structural, electrical, and mechanical layouts, into unified plan sets.
- Support the creation of technical models and graphical representations for construction and planning use.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 0–2 years of CAD drafting or design experience.
- Basic knowledge of Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software.
- Familiarity with engineering science, technical drawing principles, and drafting standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Understanding of mathematical concepts related to geometry, measurement, and structural calculations.
- Experience with drafting tools and digital design applications such as CAD platforms.
