Job Title: Maintenance Technician III – HVAC/R & Facilities

*Must have Commercial HVAC & hands on working Refrigeration experience

Location: Fremont, OH (Field-based across local retail sites)

Pay Rate: $30.00 – $42.00 / hour (Based on experience)

Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift | After-Hours On-Call Rotation | Travel within regional territories

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician III (HVAC/R Specialty) to oversee equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and general facility repairs across our retail and office locations.

In this role, you will be the primary technical expert keeping our rooftop climate systems, walk-in coolers, ice machines, and store equipment operating smoothly. Working closely with our Maintenance Coordinator, you’ll tackle a dynamic mix of HVAC/R troubleshooting, general building maintenance, and vendor oversight.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC/R & Climate Control Systems

• Diagnostic & Repair: Troubleshoot, repair, and service commercial HVAC/R systems, including rooftop units (RTUs), walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, exhaust systems, and beverage units across store locations.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to maximize equipment lifespan and prevent operational downtime.
• Safety & Standards: Execute all HVAC/R tasks in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner adhering to EPA guidelines.

General Facility Maintenance & Operations

• Multi-Trade Support: Perform general facility repairs common in convenience store environments, including plumbing, electrical, lighting, signage, store fixtures/millwork, and fuel system support.
• Subcontractor Coordination: Partner with the Maintenance Coordinator to dispatch, oversee, and sign off on specialized subcontractor work (electrical, plumbing, heavy commercial repairs).
• Work Order & Inventory Management: Utilize CMMS software to track daily work orders, submit field activity reports on time, and manage job site parts inventory effectively using Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• On-Call & Emergency Response: Participate in the scheduled after-hours on-call rotation to respond to urgent facility needs.

What You Bring to the Table (Requirements)

Minimum Qualifications:

• HVAC/R Experience: 5 years of commercial HVAC/R troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair experience (preferably in multi-site retail, convenience store, or commercial facility environments).
• General Facilities Experience: 3 years of hands-on facility maintenance experience (electrical, plumbing, building repairs, preventive maintenance).
• Certification: EPA Type II or Universal Certification is required.
• Education & License: High School Diploma or GED; Valid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record compliant with company insurance requirements.
• Computer & Tech Skills: Proficiency with CMMS work order software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Communication & Reliability: Strong organizational skills, professional communication skills when interacting with store teams and vendors, and a proven track record of dependability.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:

• Physical Stamina: Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and lift/carry materials weighing up to 90 lbs.
• Work Environment: Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying Ohio weather conditions, around moving mechanical parts, elevated height locations, and active retail settings.
• Travel: Willingness to travel between assigned job sites throughout Ohio as needed.
