Packaging Machine operator

Title: Machine Operator - 2nd shift

Location: 141 Ethel Rd. W, Piscataway, NJ 08854

Duration: Temp to Hire

Shifts available: 2nd shift (2:00 pm-10:30 pm), Will need to train on 1st shift for the first 3 weeks (if they're 2nd shift)

Pay rate: $22-$23/hr.

Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Job Description:

Job summary:

• The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production machinery. The machine operator will set up and operate carton flow related equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform periodic checks on equipment and solve problems as detected.
• Perform changeovers from one format to another.
• Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment.
• Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
• Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance on packaging machines and assist in troubleshooting machine related issues.
• Report food safety and quality issues to Plant Management.
• Keep machines and area clean and safe.
• Follows standardized work procedures and adhere to safe work practices.
• Focuses on continuous improvement environment.
• Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's).

• Spanish language fluency and/or knowledge is a plus.

Education And/Or Experience:

• Must have at least 1 year of packaging machine operator experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
• High School education or equivalent.
• Basic math and computer skills are required.
• Ability to read, speak, and write English fluently is required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• No Travel
• Light Travel (0 – 10%)
• Moderate Travel (10% - 30%)
• Heavy Travel (greater than 30%)

Physical Demands

• Sedentary - Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
• Light - Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Walking or standing to a significant degree, involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling.
• Medium - Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Heavy - Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

• Limited - General office environment infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.)
• Moderate - Occasionally exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise fumes, dust, etc.)
• High - Frequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise fumes, dust, etc.)
