We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and patient care equipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical teams by ensuring all instruments are processed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, team-focused, and capable of working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Prepare and package instrument sets and trays according to established protocols
- Operate sterilization equipment and ensure proper functioning and safety standards
- Maintain knowledge of appropriate materials for wrapping and sterilization methods
- Manage case cart preparation and ensure timely availability of surgical instruments
- Utilize instrument tracking systems (e.g., ABACUS/Microsystems) to monitor inventory and workflow
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and defects
- Adhere to infection control policies and regulatory standards
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies
- Collaborate effectively with surgical teams and other healthcare staff
- Handle physical demands including prolonged standing, lifting, and transporting equipment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD certification required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sterile processing required
- 10 years of experience preferred
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, especially Orthopedic and Neuro instrument sets
- Experience with sterilization techniques and equipment operation
- Familiarity with instrument tracking systems preferred
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and comprehension skills (reading, writing, and understanding English)
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
Important Details:
- 13-week contract position
- Shift is 8 hrs/day (3 PM - 11 PM), 40 hrs/week
- Location is Morristown, NJ 07960
- Pay Range for Locals: $30 - $35 per hour
- Pay Range for Travelers: $1,500 - $1,530 per week
