Job Title: Timekeeper / Payroll Specialist
Location: New York, NY 10004
Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Contract Duration: 2 Months with a strong possibility of further extension
Pay Rate: $25-30/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, audit, and process employee timesheets for accuracy and compliance
- Monitor time entries, missed punches, overtime, and pay differentials
- Ensure supervisor approvals are completed before payroll deadlines
- Prepare and submit time data and adjustments for payroll processing
- Investigate and resolve timekeeping discrepancies and payroll errors
- Track and manage employee leave (PTO, sick, FMLA, etc.) and maintain accurate balances
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees, including garnishments and deductions
- Conduct audits to ensure payroll accuracy and data integrity
- Maintain documentation for payroll transactions and support reporting needs
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of payroll processing and timekeeping experience
- Experience with garnishments, taxes, and payroll processes
- Strong analytical skills, including retro pay/time calculations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (Business, HR, Accounting, or related field)
- Experience with Oracle, PeopleSoft, or similar HR/payroll systems
- Knowledge of union contracts and public sector payroll
- Experience supporting large employee populations
