Dietetic Technician

We are seeking a Dietetic Technician to support nutrition and dietary services in a pediatric hospital setting. This role is responsible for assisting with nutrition-related operations, supporting patient dietary needs, and collaborating with clinical nutrition staff to ensure quality nutritional care. The ideal candidate will have hospital-based nutrition experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily nutrition and dietary service operations in a hospital environment.
• Support patient meal planning, dietary coordination, and nutrition-related documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding dietary needs and meal services.
• Utilize electronic feeding management systems and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and tracking.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and departmental procedures.
• Collaborate with dietitians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient nutritional care plans.
• Maintain accurate records related to nutrition services and patient dietary information.
• Apply mathematical skills for portion calculations, nutritional measurements, and dietary data entry.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional interpersonal communication in a pediatric healthcare setting.
• Perform additional dietary and nutrition support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree required.
• Student enrolled in a nutrition or related educational program preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of hospital nutrition-related work experience required OR enrollment in a department-approved education program.
• Food Safety Certification required at time of hire/booking.
• Experience working in a children’s hospital or pediatric setting preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills required.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and/or electronic feeding management systems required.
• Strong mathematical and organizational skills required.

Important Details:

• 8-week contract position (extensions available)
• Shift is an 8-hour day shift (11 AM - 7 PM), 40 hours/week
• Location is New York, NY 10032
• Pay Range for Locals: $35 - $40 per hour
• Pay Range for Travelers: $1,700 - $1,740 per week
