Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage financial records and ensure accurate accounting practices for our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various accounting software, GAAP standards, and both corporate and non-profit accounting environments. This role involves maintaining general ledger integrity, preparing financial reports, and supporting budgeting and reconciliation processes to facilitate sound financial management.
Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Perform general ledger accounting and account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations regularly.
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and analysis in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Quicken for data entry and reporting.
- Handle payroll processing and tax-related activities with precision.
- Support budgeting processes by analyzing financial data and assisting in budget preparation.
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and non-profit accounting standards when applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Assist with internal audits and external audits as needed.
- Stay updated on current financial concepts, regulations, and best practices in technical accounting.
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial software tools.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, and governmental/non-profit accounting standards.
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, tax experience, accounts payable/receivable management.
- Ability to prepare detailed financial reports and perform budget analysis.
- Familiarity with journal entries, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and 10 key typing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks.
- Strong analytical skills combined with a solid understanding of financial concepts and technical accounting principles.
