Job Summary
Jones Automotive is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations and support the overall financial health of the business. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting payroll and accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with monthly and year-end reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, excellent organizational skills, and experience working in a small business or automotive environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with accounting best practices
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoices and customer payments
- Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
- Assist with payroll processing, payroll reporting, and related filings
- Track and reconcile vehicle sales, inventory costs, and dealership-related transactions (as applicable)
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets
- Assist with sales tax reporting, filings, and compliance requirements
- Support budgeting, cash flow tracking, and financial forecasting
- Maintain organized financial documentation for audits, lenders, or tax professionals
- Coordinate with external CPA or tax preparer for year-end close and tax filings
- Perform additional administrative or financial duties as needed to support the business
Requirements & Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (automotive or small business experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar systems)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic financial reporting tools
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience in an automotive dealership or repair business
- Payroll processing experience
- Sales tax and multi-state tax exposure
- CPA, bookkeeping certification, or continuing accounting education
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications and may be offered as an hourly or salaried role.
Pay: $17.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
