PRICE ELECTRIC is looking for a Senior Controller to be located in our Robins, IA office. They will be accountable for the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, internal controls, and compliance functions. This role ensures accurate and timely construction financial information, supports budgeting and forecasting processes, manages accounting staff, and maintains strong financial systems and procedures. The Senior Controller plays a key role in supporting organizational decision-making by providing reliable financial data and operational insight.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Management, Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, job cost accounting, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Review monthly financial results and provide analysis to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate and prepare supporting documentation for external audits, reviews, and tax filings.
  • Ensure timely filing of all required local, state, and federal financial reports.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Oversee WIP reporting, job cost accuracy, and collaboration with Construction Operations to ensure proper revenue recognition and project financial tracking.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Support the development of annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Assist leadership with financial modeling, cost analysis, and operational performance metrics.
  • Prepare cash flow projections and monitor daily cash activity.
  • Provide financial insights to help operational leaders manage costs and improve profitability.

Systems, Processes & Technology

  • Oversee the maintenance and optimization of accounting systems, ERP platforms, and financial reporting tools.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure proper functioning of financial software, databases, and reporting tools in collaboration with IT.
  • Support system upgrades, integrations, and enhancements as needed.

Risk Management & Controls

  • Maintain internal control procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support risk management activities, including insurance renewals, claims coordination, and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and assist in developing new policies as needed.

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Supervise accounting department personnel, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee staffing, workload planning, and professional development for accounting team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Ensure clear communication of goals, expectations, and priorities.


Education and or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience in construction or a job-costing environment.
  • Experience managing accounting teams and leading month-end close processes.
  • Familiarity with job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and construction financial reporting is highly desirable.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.


Working Environment: Primarily an office-based role with frequent interaction across departments. Occasional extended hours may be required during month-end close, year-end, or special projects. Limited travel may be required.


Physical Demands: Typical office requirements include effective communication, sitting, using hands with coordination and precision to type and use a computer at regular speed and accuracy, seeing details at close range, and occasional light lifting of up to 10 pounds.
