Job Title: New Business Development – Fractional CIO Services
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and consultative Business Developer to drive business new business for our Fractional CIO service offerings. This individual will educate prospective clients on the strategic value of part-time executive technology leadership and help organizations evaluate how a Fractional CIO can enhance operations, reduce risk, drive innovation, and support long-term growth.
This role requires a blend of relationship-building, solution-oriented selling, and the ability to translate technology pain points into new business opportunities. The ideal candidate has experience selling professional services, staffing services, or executive-level advisory offerings to the entire C-Suite.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Identify, prospect, and cultivate new business opportunities within mid-market and SMB segments, as well as private equity portfolios.
- Conduct research on target accounts to understand industry, business challenges, and technology maturity.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through outbound outreach, networking, referrals, events, and partnerships.
Consultative Sales
- Educate executive level leadership on Fractional CIO offerings, defining how part-time strategic technology leadership solves operational challenges and drives business outcomes.
- Conduct discovery meetings to assess client needs, pain points, organizational readiness, and potential engagement scope.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and ROI/business-case materials tailored to each client.
Relationship Management
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CMO's, CHRO's and the IT teams.
- Work collaboratively with internal CIO consultants to shape recommended solutions and ensure smooth client handoffs.
- Maintain ongoing communication with prospects and clients to support long-term partnerships and potential service expansion.
Pipeline & Sales Process Management
- Use CRM tools to track leads, activities, opportunities, and forecasting.
- Maintain a disciplined, structured sales cadence from initial outreach to closing.
- Ensure compliance with internal pricing, scoping, and contract processes.
Market Awareness
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, cybersecurity risks, digital transformation, cloud adoption and everything Artificial Intelligence (AI) related.
- Monitor competitor offerings and position the firm’s Fractional CIO services effectively in the market.
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years of experience in B2B sales, ideally in a similar sales capacity.
- Strong understanding of technology concepts (infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital transformation, IT strategy), even if not deeply technical.
- Proven success in consultative selling to executive leaders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to engage and persuade senior-level executives.
- High level of professionalism, self-motivation, integrity and accountability.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience selling to CEOs, CFOs, COO, CHRO, or non-technical business leaders.
- Background in selling services related to IT strategy, executive level staffing, or C-suite advisory.
