SUMMARY:
Services are designed to work with runaway, truant, and ungovernable youth and their families
by increasing social and life management skills, academic success and self-worth. Utilizing a
multi-dimensional process in which professional expertise and skills are exercised to gather and
analyze information.

JOB LOCATION:
Fort Lauderdale, FL

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Persons in this position are responsible for providing delinquency diversion program services by:

-Supervision of a caseload of youth and families.
-Conduct screenings, intake assessments and secures information such as medical,
psychological and social factors contributing to the client's situation and evaluates these
and the client's capacities. All data entry must be completed in a timely manner to satisfy
contractual requirements. All screenings must be completed within 72 hours of referral
date.
-Generate an Individualized Case Plan with the family to improve family and youth
behavior. All case plans must be individualized. All ISPs must be signed within 7 days of
intake.
-Counsels client individually in family or in other small groups regarding plans for meeting
needs.
-Helps client to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing understanding of
self, personal problems and client's part in creating them.
-Enter any data regarding demographics and services provided to the client, into NETMIS
and DJJ data base system (JJIS), which are the web-based data system as prescribed by
the funder. All data entry must be entered within 72 hours of intake. Develop, review,
and monitor the client's case plan. Provide follow-up (30/ 60/ 90 day from intake date)
services to determine quantity and quality of services provided.
-Provide case management services for assigned clients.
-Provide group workshops and educational seminars with assigned clients.
-Serve as a liaison with referral sources and community agencies.
-Establish linkages with the community, law enforcement, schools and social service
organizations.
-Provides information and referral to appropriate service agencies.
Successfully terminate/ close assigned cases in a timely manner. All Exits must be entered
within 72 hours.
-Staff cases monthly and recommend intensive services to assure success.
-Conduct outreach session to disseminate program information and recruit youth most
likely to become delinquent based on certain risk factors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to present to large and small audiences.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Able to work night and weekends as needed. Good interpersonal relation skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in social work or a degree in a related field with at least one (1) year of
experience in working with children and families and experience in case management.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as case notes, safety rules, operating instructions,
and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to speak
effectively before groups of clients or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals; Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs; Ability to operate and utilize a computer and Microsoft Office product with
some degree of proficiency.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,
or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
Valid State of Florida Driver's License
