Key Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the construction, infrastructure, utilities, engineering, and industrial sectors.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to grow revenue, expand market share, and increase Preston Rentals’ presence in the territory.
- Research and target new customers, dormant accounts, and upcoming construction projects to build a strong pipeline of opportunities.
- Conduct cold outreach, networking, and industry engagement to generate new leads and expand the company’s customer base.
Technical Sales & Equipment Solutions
- Analyze client project requirements and recommend specialized equipment solutions that maximize safety, efficiency, and project success.
- Provide technical consultation regarding lifting solutions, cranes, hoists, and other specialized construction equipment.
- Deliver professional product presentations and equipment proposals to project managers, engineers, and senior decision makers.
- Support customers throughout project planning, equipment selection, and implementation to ensure successful outcomes.
- Perform equipment safety inspections and provide guidance to General Contractors and site teams on proper installation procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, engineers, project managers, and procurement teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer needs, ensuring high levels of responsiveness, follow-up, and service delivery.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and increase repeat business through strong relationship management.
Territory Management
- Strategically manage the assigned territory by identifying high-value target accounts, prioritizing opportunities, and developing action plans to maximize market penetration and revenue growth.
- Maintain consistent engagement with key contractors, project stakeholders, and industry contacts within the territory.
CRM & Pipeline Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions, sales activities, and opportunities within the company’s CRM system.
- Actively manage the sales pipeline to ensure opportunities are properly tracked, followed up on, and progressed through the sales cycle.
Sales Forecasting & Reporting
- Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts based on pipeline activity, project timelines, and market opportunities.
- Provide regular updates on sales performance, pipeline health, and revenue projections to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Proposal & Contract Development
- Prepare and present detailed proposals, quotations, and rental agreements tailored to client project requirements.
- Support contract negotiations while ensuring alignment with company policies and customer expectations.
Market Intelligence & Industry Presence
- Monitor construction market activity, industry trends, and competitor developments.
- Represent Preston Rentals at trade shows, networking events, and industry forums to promote the brand and expand professional networks.
- Provide valuable field insights that support strategic business planning and market positioning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, logistics, project teams, and leadership to ensure equipment availability, project coordination, and successful delivery of solutions.
- Support the onboarding of new clients and ensure seamless communication between departments.
Team Support & Ownership
- Contribute to the success of the broader team by supporting colleagues, assisting with operational needs when required, and demonstrating a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Foster a collaborative “one-team” culture where stepping in to help teammates and customers is expected and essential to delivering outstanding results.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of B2B sales experience with a proven track record in the commercial construction industry.
- 2 years of project management experience is an asset.
- Strong in client acquisition, negotiation, and long-term relationship management.
- Demonstrated experience in solution selling with an ability to navigate complex sales cycles and handle contract negotiations.
- Crane or hoist rental/sales experience is highly desirable.
- Technical knowledge or comfort with equipment solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Polished communicator—professional, diplomatic, and confident in front of customers.
- Self-starter with strategic thinking, accountability, and a high degree of dependability.
- Based in Colorado with the ability to travel up to 50% across the region.
