Role Description The Biology Teacher will deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in biology and related life sciences to high school students. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and implementing lessons, creating laboratory and hands-on activities, assessing student learning through assignments and exams, and providing timely feedback. The teacher will maintain accurate grade records, participate in department and faculty meetings, and collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning. Additional duties include managing classroom behavior, communicating regularly with families and counselors, and contributing to school-wide initiatives and co-curricular activities. This is a full-time, on-site role located at Preston High School in Bronx, NY.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Biology and related life sciences, with the ability to teach core and advanced topics effectively.
- Proven Teaching experience in a middle or high school setting
- Strong Lesson Planning skills, including designing labs, assessments, and differentiated instructional materials.
- Excellent Communication skills, including clear classroom instruction, constructive feedback, and professional collaboration with families and colleagues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Science Education, or a closely related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to integrate educational technology into instruction and manage student data effectively.
