Detention Equipment Installer / Welder

Position Summary

The Detention Equipment Installer installs, assembles, and maintains detention and security equipment in correctional facilities and secure environments. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to travel extensively for project assignments.

Candidates with welding experience, construction backgrounds, trade certifications, or vocational training are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Responsibilities

• Install detention and correctional facility equipment according to company and project specifications.
• Perform MIG welding and light TIG welding as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and installation drawings.
• Assemble and install steel doors, security frames, locking systems, and related hardware.
• Utilize carpentry, fabrication, and construction skills to support installation activities.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other job-site equipment.
• Follow all safety protocols and project requirements.
• Work collaboratively with project teams to complete installations on schedule.

Qualifications:

Required

• Experience in welding, installation, construction, carpentry, fabrication, or a related skilled trade (will need to provide Certification)
• Ability to travel extensively for work assignments (when you go on client payroll).
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and complete a drug test
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work in detention and correctional facility environments.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move construction materials and equipment.

Preferred

• 3-5 years of welding, installation, or construction experience.
• MIG welding experience.
• Trade school education or vocational certifications.
• Experience working on commercial, industrial, or institutional construction projects.
• Familiarity with security hardware or detention equipment installations.

Compensation

• $29.00 - $30.00 per hour
• Paid travel expenses
• Daily per diem while traveling
