POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance at Pressery's food manufacturing operations. This role ensures maximum uptime, food safety compliance, and operational efficiency through proactive maintenance programs, strong team leadership, and effective management of parts and contractor resources. The ideal candidate brings hands-on mechanical and electrical expertise combined with the organizational discipline to implement and sustain modern maintenance management systems in a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance Operations & Reliability

  • Plan, prioritize, and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across all production equipment and building systems
  • Ensure the Preventive Maintenance program adequately covers all production and facility assets for optimum reliability and cost effectiveness
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as required to minimize downtime and prevent recurring events that contribute to loss of revenue due to equipment failure
  • Continuously monitor and improve throughput by identifying and eliminating maintenance-related bottlenecks
  • Respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns with urgency, minimizing impact to production schedules
  • Communicate with peers and upper management on maintenance-related issues that could impact the production schedule or result in excessive downtime

Parts Inventory & CMMS Management

  • Manage parts inventory and storage to ensure common spares are maintained at appropriate levels to minimize production impact when needed
  • Implement and manage a parts inventory management system, ensuring critical spares are stocked while controlling carrying costs
  • Lead adoption and optimization of maintenance software (CMMS/EAM); drive team compliance with work order, PM, and inventory tracking workflows
  • Establish reorder points, manage vendor relationships, and oversee purchasing of parts and materials within budgetary guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment history, parts usage, and maintenance costs to support data-driven decision-making

Safety, Regulatory & Food Safety Compliance

  • Ensure all regulatory requirements for work safety, environmental compliance, and food safety procedures are met
  • Manage the company LOTO program and all other safety requirements associated with machinery and facility operations
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with GMP, HACCP, GFSI, and other applicable food safety standards
  • Maintain documentation required for food safety audits (GFSI, BRC, customer, regulatory) related to maintenance and sanitation programs
  • Partner with Quality and Food Safety teams to address maintenance-driven food safety risks proactively
  • Communicate directly with vendors, contractors, and service technicians as required by project scope; enforce Pressery's contractor safety and compliance requirements

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise Maintenance Technicians to ensure adherence to department and company policies
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians; conduct performance reviews and support ongoing skills development
  • Build team scheduling to ensure maintenance coverage aligned with production demands, including after-hours and weekend needs
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department
  • Identify and close skills gaps through targeted training, cross-training, and external resources

Budget & Capital Management

  • Maintain and monitor the maintenance department budget and monetary costs associated with production and facility assets
  • Ensure budget compliance by monitoring expenditures against approved budgets, escalating variances, and maintaining accurate financial documentation for all maintenance-related costs
  • Support capital project planning and execution, including equipment installation, facility improvements, and capacity expansions
  • Evaluate and recommend capital investments to improve reliability, efficiency, or safety


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 5 years of progressive maintenance experience in food, beverage, or consumer goods manufacturing
  • 2 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing maintenance technicians
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Demonstrated experience building or managing a preventive maintenance program
  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards; experience supporting food safety audits (GFSI, BRC, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with CMMS or maintenance management software for work orders, PM tracking, and reporting
  • Experience managing parts inventory and maintenance purchasing
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to off-hours emergencies as needed

Highly Desired

  • Hands-on experience implementing or significantly improving a parts inventory management system, including software selection, data buildout, and team adoption
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or supporting High Pressure Processing (HPP) equipment (e.g., Avure, Hiperbaric, or similar)
  • Experience leading a CMMS implementation or upgrade from the ground up
  • Familiarity with GFSI-recognized certification scheme requirements (e.g., BRC, FSSC 22000, or equivalent)
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field; or equivalent trade certification
  • Lean or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) experience


PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed in an active food manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Manager must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in environments that may be cold, wet, or loud. PPE, GMP attire, and food safety protocols are required at all times on the production floor.
