Company Background
Present Day Therapy is a practice in Alger Heights, built around a problem I have personally experienced. Private practice can be an isolating profession where each contractor is on their own island, and we would like to change that. Present day will focus on clinicians being more like coworkers than individuals working under a practice name. There will be regular consultation groups so you never feel alone when dealing with a tough case. You will get to know your peers and grow as a clinician. We will engage in community outside of the therapy space because we are people first! I value supporting the clinician in order to build a well run practice.
Going to therapy is a vulnerable practice and we are seeking to find clinicians who can give clients an experience that will get them past the initial few visits, because that is when the real work happens. Roughly one in three clients don’t come back after an intake, and we want to change that. We believe that pouring into our clinicians will yield better results for the client as well.
THE ROLE
What you’ll do
- See adults for individual therapy, focusing on young adults (18 to 35), working with anxiety, stress, depression, relationships, and trauma.
- Help clients see visible progress and connect the work in the room to real changes at home and in their relationships.
- See clients in person at the Alger Heights office.
- Keep your documentation timely and clean. Billing and paperwork get handled around you, not piled on you.
- Show up for group consults and peer support, with your own cases and for everyone else’s.
- Make a warm handoff to a colleague when they’re the better fit, so clients stay in care instead of dropping out.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’re a good fit if
- You’re independently licensed in Michigan as an LPC, LMSW, LMFT, or LP. Fully licensed, practicing without supervision. (Not there yet? We’re not hiring at the limited-license level right now, but reach out as we grow.)
- You have a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or psychology.
- You’re warm, kind, and direct when it counts, and you don’t mind a little humor in the room.
- You believe therapy is skill-building, not a permanent identity, and you want clients needing you less over time, not more.
- You care about visible progress and hitting goals.
- You want colleagues. People to talk through a hard case with, and a team you like being part of.
- Trauma-informed experience, EMDR, and comfort taking Blue Cross Blue Shield and Priority Health alongside private pay.
COMPENSATION & SUPPORT
How pay and support work
This is a W-2 employee role paid on a per-session fee split. You earn a set share of the fee for every session you see, and we’ll talk through the real numbers together. Clear pricing on the client’s side of the room, clear pay on yours.
Because you’re an employee and not a solo operator running your own back office, we carry the parts of private practice that wear people out:
- Billing and insurance handled, including credentialing help with BCBS and Priority Health.
- Marketing and a steady client flow. We bring the clients.
- Scheduling, intake, and front-office logistics managed.
- A furnished office in Alger Heights.
- Clinical community built in. Group consults and peer support.
ROOM TO GROW
Room to build, if you want it
As we grow, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility on the administrative side, if that is interesting to you. This is optional, but we want you to know there are many ways to grow at Present Day!
