Position Overview
We are seeking a Dog Trainer to join our growing team. We are open to trainers with different training backgrounds and methods, as long as they have solid dog handling experience, a willingness to learn, and a strong commitment to continued education.

This position may begin part-time, depending on experience. Newer trainers may start by shadowing the head trainer during private lessons, assisting with board-and-train programs, and teaching group classes, with opportunities to grow into running private lessons and board-and-train cases independently. For experienced trainers, a 2 week trial period will be completed to ensure alignment with our methods, after which trainers may begin taking on solo programs based on their demonstrated experience and skill levels. We have plenty of programs booked out that we can move up to fill your schedule.

Compensation
Pay is $25-$50 per hour depending on experience, skill level, and responsibilities. Compensation for other programs such as Day Camp or Board and Trains are structured differently based on trainer abilities, dog's need and program length.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with private lessons, group classes, and training programs
• Work alongside the head trainer to support board-and-train dogs
• Safely handle and manage dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments
• Teach group classes when scheduled
• Help maintain a structured, organized training environment
• Communicate clearly with clients and confidently speak to small groups (up to 8 people)
• Monitor dog behavior and progress during training sessions
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kennels and facility areas

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of dog handling experience
• Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
• Personable and confident speaking with clients and small groups
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
• Ability to lift 40 pounds and stay active during shifts
• Strong work ethic and willingness to continue learning

Candidates should also meet the general expectations of our kennel staff, including helping with dog care routines, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting the overall daily operations of the facility.

Preferred Experience
Special consideration will be given to applicants who actively participate in dog sports or working dog activities with their own dogs, such as:

• Herding
• Scent detection / nose work
• Agility
• Dock diving
• Other working or performance dog sports

Hands-on experience developing and training your own dogs in these areas demonstrates a deeper understanding of training, drive, and dog behavior.

We are looking for trainers who want to grow within a team environment. Our trainers represent our facility both in person and online.

Team members are expected to:

• Represent and recommend the business professionally
• Maintain respect for the training programs and materials developed within the company
• Be committed to continuing education, including seminars, competitions, conferences, and ongoing learning in dog training and behavior

This role works best for someone who is a self-starter who can stay productive without constant direction. Our leadership team is always available to support and answer questions, but we operate in a busy environment and value team members who take initiative and ownership of their responsibilities.

Schedule
Schedule will vary depending on classes, lessons, and training programs. Both part-time opportunities and growth into larger roles are possible. We have our larger programs booked out through summer and more inquiries coming in daily.
